The Grobet S300 uses a 1/8HP, 18,000 maximum RPM flex shaft motor complete with a wide style nylon housing foot control and a fixed collet 3/32" "quick change" lever activated hand piece. This is an good choice for the hobbyist or beginning jeweler who would like a quality flex shaft kit but does not have the budget to afford a genuine Foredom flex shaft. The only drawback to the Grobet flex shaft kit is the rather basic Grobet USA Foot Control that comes with it. The foot control has limited speed adjustment as compared to just about any other foot control we have ever tested. The speed choice is very slow to medium to high with no graduation between speeds. You may want to throw away the foot control and replace it with a genuine Foredom FCT-1 foot control, an excellent foot control for not a lot of money.
